Greetings! I was an active member of W4CQ in the 70's as a young man in my
20's! Now am 53 in Fla and enjoy watching how the club has grown! Got in contact
with Fran a year or so ago...Dave Marcelli, Fran and I used to go up 1000' in a
"chicken wire" elevator for the TV station to work on .07/67 repeater!
WOW! Great old memories! Does the club still meet upstairs in the old blding in
front of the TV transmitter? Ha...am sure not! Oh well...best to all hams there

I should have looked at your site, before driving over to WSOC-land. As a 12
yr old, I showed up one day at WSOC, wanting a tour of the place. "We do
not have tours.", was the secretary's response. Then, a kind man said,
"I shall be glad the give you a tour." He took me 'everywhere', and
afterwards, gave me a homebuilt VSWR meter. Many years later, I left that meter
on the steps of the old W4CQ site. I figured you guys might have wanted that old
VSWR meter. You may still have it somewhere there. It is easily identified, by
the W4CQ, scratched into the aluminum case, also built by hand. I shall always
remember Earle Gluck's personal tour of WSOC. Perhaps I shall see the 'new'
site, before returning overseas.
